About All of Us at the Welch House

Susan Hodder & Michael Feldmann at McSeagulls

Fifteen or so years ago, two communications contractors met for the first time to fulfill a job. Susan was there to write copy for the intranet site, Michael was there to code it. Several hours later, they were plotting how to finish the job as quickly as possible so they could date. They never looked back.

In 2003 they left Massachusetts to come to Boothbay Harbor and fulfill their dream of being innkeepers. Ten seasons later they are still dreaming new dreams.

Susan is a board member of the Boothbay Sea and Science Center, a local non-profit whose mission is "To inspire individuals to strengthen themselves and their community through the enjoyment of the sea". She directs high-school age drama programs when possible, has been a Director of the Chamber of Commerce and has sat on the Board of the Opera House.

Michael tries not to hurt himself.

Our Fantastic Staff

Susan and Michael have always felt strongly about hiring local staff, and despite the nay-sayers, the Welch House has enjoyed a consistent and reliable crew every year. One of the primary reasons is Tammy, our Head Housekeeper for ten years, and the care and attention that she gives to the job and for each and every member of our staff.

Awards & Recognition

During their nine years, the Welch House was a Fodor's Travel Guide Choice in 2005 for the Maine issue, 2006 for the Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont issue, and again in 2006 for the New England issue.

Where are those Staff Members now?
