The Welch House Inn’s unique position atop McKown hill has been offering guests magnificent views of Boothbay Harbor and the open ocean for over 60 years.
Watch the boats sail by as you enjoy a full gourmet breakfast from the spacious deck or the glass-front dining room. Walk to the best restaurants, galleries, and excursions that Boothbay Harbor has to offer, and then enjoy a spectacular sunset from the rooftop deck of this century old shipbuilder’s home.
The Welch House is the perfect bed and breakfast choice for vacations, escapes, honeymoons, and romantic getaways. We even had an elopement and a marriage proposal on our top deck in the summer of 2003!
Planning an event? Our fourteen guest rooms happily accommodate weddings and family reunions, as well as business meetings or executive retreats. Click Here to find out more about having your next event at the Welch House Inn.

The guest rooms all have private baths and are elegantly but comfortably appointed.
Most of our fourteen rooms boast breathtaking views, with King, Queen, and Double beds available to suit your preference.
All rooms include telephones, cable TV/VCRs, and air-conditioning. Several rooms also have gas fireplaces, and some have whirlpool tubs.
For rainy days or cool evenings, choose from our extensive collection of movies on video and settle in for a cozy stay.

The deck and living room, both overlooking the harbor, are the perfect gathering places for warm conversation. Sink comfortably into a leather loveseat in front of the stone fireplace, or stretch out on the deck and bask in the sun and fresh salt air.
Grab a good book from our diverse library, or select a game to play with friends, but be sure to glance up at the view every now and then. We serve complimentary afternoon treats, and coffee, tea, and cocoa are available 24/7.
Breathtaking is the only word to describe the 180-degree view from our third floor deck. In the crisp, clear light of early morning or the mellow glow of the late afternoon sun, the scene is an ever-changing one, as pleasure craft and fishing boats sail in and out of the harbor.
At night the inner shoreline twinkles with lights and the darkness of the outer harbor is accentuated by blinking lighthouses and winking stars. Savor a sunset, relish a rainbow or feel the fog creep in from an extraordinary vantage point above it all.
Visit the Welch House Inn in Boothbay Harbor, and you’ll understand why Maine is really "the way life should be".
